OUR DOCTORS

Meet Amer Budayr, MD

I am an internist with specialty training in endocrinology. In my role as consultant I take a patient-focused approach, with a broad view of the impact of hormones on health and well being. I take pride in helping patients understand the relationship of hormones to all aspects of health. Drawing on knowledge and experience gained over 30 years of clinical practice, I explore which safe, effective and evidence-based options are available, partnering with my patients in order to decide which modality is best for them. By coordinating care with primary care physicians, I am able to provide a team based comprehensive approach to optimize functioning and well being.

I received my medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and completed my training in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to the Bay Area in 1985 and spent six years in clinical and research training in endocrinology at University of California San Francisco.

I practiced endocrinology at Kaiser Permanente from 1992-2018, where I also discovered my interest in an integrative approach to health care by serving as the Chief of Physician Wellness at Kaiser Oakland.

Since 2018 I have worked in several Bay Area medical settings, where I continue to learn about the intersection of hormones with the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of health.  I have training and expertise in the areas of thyroid disease, bone and mineral metabolism, and male hypogonadism. I am excited to bring my experience and ongoing development in the practice of medicine as a clinical consultant to Be Well Natural Medicine.

In my free time I enjoy cooking, hiking, and live music.
